Due to a waterline break at the city’s water filtration plant early Wednesday morning, a large area of Kingsport water customers possibly experienced a loss in water service. Kingsport officials have communicated with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation during this event. TDEC officials have determined, out of an abundance of caution, a public notice of a boil water advisory is necessary for the affected customers until further notice. We anticipate it being lifted tomorrow afternoon pending water sample results. Customers outside the affected areas are not under a boil water advisory. If your residence is located within the Pressure Zone E or B, you're within the affected area.
