Preventing violence through education in Sullivan County

The Rape Prevention Education (RPE) Program focuses on preventing and educating on topics such as sexual assault, rape, factors that contribute to sexual violence, and bystander intervention. Our goal is to address and prevent sexual violence in Sullivan County.

Quick facts:

  • 1 out of 5 women have experienced attempted or completed rape.
  • Almost 25% of men have experienced some form of sexual violence.
  • Across the U.S., a significant majority of women (81%) and a substantial portion of men (43%) indicated they have encountered some type of sexual harassment or assault during their lives.
  • 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men report experiencing sexual violence for the first time between the ages of 11 and 17.
