Immunization Services
The Sullivan County Regional Health Department is dedicated to ensuring that all children in our community receive the necessary vaccines to protect them from preventable diseases. We follow the CDC's guidelines and provide a comprehensive range of vaccinations for children from birth through adulthood.

Child Care and School Requirements
Ensuring that your child receives timely immunizations is crucial for their health and well-being. Vaccines protect against a variety of serious diseases that can lead to severe health complications or even death. By following the recommended vaccination schedule, you help safeguard not only your child but also the community by reducing the spread of infectious diseases.
To enroll in childcare facilities and participate in public schooling, infants and children must be up to date on their vaccinations. An updated certificate is required after completing all vaccines.
Childcare and Pre-school (Birth – 5 Years)
Required Vaccines:
- Diphtheria-Tetanus-Pertussis (DTaP, or DT if appropriate)
- Poliomyelitis (IPV or OPV)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (1 dose of each, usually given together as MMR)
- Varicella (1 dose or history of disease)
- Haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib): for children under 5 years
- Hepatitis B (HBV)
- Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV): for children under 5 years
- Hepatitis A: 1 dose by 18 months of age or older
- Respiratory Synctial Virus (RSV): birth to 19 months
Kindergarten
Required Vaccines:
- Diphtheria-Tetanus-Pertussis (DTaP, or DT if appropriate): 5 doses
- Hepatitis B (HBV): 3 doses
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR): 2 doses
- Poliomyelitis (IPV or OPV): 4 doses, with the last dose on or after the 4th birthday
- Varicella: 2 doses or history of disease
- Hepatitis A: 2 doses, spaced at least 6 months apart
7th Grade
Required Vaccines:
- Tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis booster (Tdap)
- Varicella: 2 doses or history of disease
New Enrollees in TN Schools (Grades Other Than Kindergarten or 7th)
Required Vaccines:
- Diphtheria-Tetanus-Pertussis (DTaP, or DT if appropriate)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR): 2 doses
- Poliomyelitis (IPV or OPV): final dose on or after the 4th birthday
- Varicella: 2 doses or history of disease
- Hepatitis B (HBV)
